<p>A light guide assembly (1) which is suitable to be arranged at an outside of a product in order to act as a light emitting outer surface of the product when used in combination with at least one light source comprises a light guide (11) for transporting light on the basis of the total internal reflection phenomenon; a cladding layer (15) having an index of refraction which is lower than an index of refraction of the light guide (11), which serves for ensuring that a desired light effect is not disturbed by tiny scratches or contaminations at a surface (14) of the light guide (11); and a cover layer (17) for providing mechanical support. The light guide assembly (1) may further comprise a finish layer (18), which is an outer layer of the assembly (1), and which is adapted to provide a desired look-and-feel to the assembly (1).</p> |
