The sleep control device comprises a terminal linking device (103) and a network linking device (104). The terminal linking device (103) is adapted to connect to a terminal (102), wherein the network linking device (104) is adapted to connect to a network (105). Furthermore, the network node (100) is adapted to enter a standby mode (302), wherein the sleep control device (101) is further adapted to switch on the network node (100) on appearing of at least one trigger event of (i) appearing of a predefined signal sequence (500) on the terminal linking device (103) during a monitoring period (309) of a listen cycle (307) or (ii) appearing of a terminal paging signal sequence (700, 900) on the network linking device (104). The sleep control device (101) is adapted to detect during the monitoring period (309) the predefined signal sequence (500) on the terminal linking device (103).
