FIELD: electrical engineering. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrode to be used in electrochemical capacitor. Proposed electrode represents a polarisable electrode consisting of activated carbon material with, in fact, zero content of ash and low percentage of transition metals. In producing double electric layer capacitor (DEL-capacitor), polarisable electrode consisting of the mix of lead dioxide/lead sulphate is preferably used. DEL-capacitor can also incorporate acid-based electrolyte, for example aqueous sulphuric electrolyte. Electrode comprises current collector containing, preferably, basic metal consisting of lead or compound thereof and electrolyte-resistant protective coat material based on acid.
