An electric motor comprises permanent magnet E sandwiched between two interdigitated sheet metal pole members F, G set in a moulded plastics shell. As described, an annular ferrite magnet E is positioned between two sheet metal pole members F, G and retained by injection of plastic material so as to form one half of a double-cup shaped casing. The rotor 108 is formed by moulding together cores 115, a hub 116 and a copper disc 111. The disc 111 is then cut into sectors by means of a milling cutter (Fig. 4, not shown) so as to form a commutator. Brushes 125 are retained in cups 123 formed in part H of the insulating casing. The motor is suitable for mounting within the door of a road vehicle for window operation. |
