摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission purifying apparatus for an internal combustion engine that can collect particulate matters (PMs) into a plurality of particulate filters while segregating them depending on differences in combustion start temperatures. <P>SOLUTION: Combustion start temperatures of PMs contained in exhaust gas are estimated based on a loading state or/and an EGR amount. A switching valve 32 is switched based on comparison between the estimated PM combustion start temperature T<SB>PM</SB>and a predetermined threshold temperature T<SB>S</SB>. The switching valve 32 is controlled so that a filter 34 communicates with an exhaust gas manifold 16 when a PM combustion start temperature T<SB>PM</SB>is lower than the threshold temperature T<SB>S</SB>, and a filter 36 communicates with the exhaust gas manifold 16 when the PM combustion start temperature T<SB>PM</SB>is equal to or higher than the threshold temperature T<SB>S</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p>
