PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, among solid electrolytic capacitors using a conductive polymer layer as a solid electrolyte layer, a solid electrolytic capacitor exhibiting excellent impedance characteristics, electrostatic capacitance and thermal durability and also exhibiting low leakage current and high withstand voltage. SOLUTION: A solid electrolytic capacitor includes a solid electrolyte layer on a dielectric oxide coating film provided on a metal surface on which a coating film is formed. The solid electrolyte layer has at least a conductive polymer layer (A) formed by chemical oxidative polymerization and a conductive polymer layer (B) formed by electrolytic polymerization using the conductive polymer layer (A) as an anode. The solid electrolyte layer may has a conductive polymer layer (C) made of polyaniline between the dielectric oxide coating film and the conductive polymer layer (A), and the conductive polymer layer (B) contains anthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid as a dopant.
