<p>A bank notes handling apparatus comprising an insertion port through which a bank notes are inserted, a sensor which detects the insertion of bank notes into the insertion port, a conveyance passage for conveying bank notes inserted into the insertion port, a light emitting section for irradiating the conveyance passage with light, a light receiving section for receiving light from the conveyance passage, a black correction section for receiving light from the conveyance passage at the light receiving section in a state where emission of light from the light emitting section is invalidated and for setting the light to a reference value of the lowest lightness, and a true/false determination section for determining true/false by comparing a plurality of elements of pixel data, that are obtained by irradiating bank notes moving on the conveyance passage with light from the light emitting section and by converting the light received at the light receiving section so that the light includes color information having brightness with a predetermined magnitude as one unit, with reference pixel data about an authentic bank note, based on the reference value set at the black correction section. Every time when a bank note is inserted, the black correction section sets a reference value after the insertion of the bank notes is detected by means of the sensor and before true/false is determined at the true/false determination section.</p> |
