1,092,608. Spin driers. C. R. STEIMEL. April 7, 1966 [April 9, 1965], No. 15723/66. Heading F4G. A spin drier for continuous removal of oil from metal cuttings comprises a resiliently mounted motor 2 driving a drum 3 formed with an upwardly and outwardly steeply-inclined wall portion 3<SP>11</SP> and at its upper end a cylindrical wall portion 11, openings 12 produced by spacing discs 15 being formed therebetween for the outflow of the oil. A filter 16 covers the openings 12 and the upper end of the wall part 11 has a flange 17 over which the de-oiled cuttings pass into a chamber having a reinforced wall 26 against which the cuttings are projected and then are removed by a slideway 27 to an outlet 28. The slideway is secured to the side wall 22 of a fluid receiving container 20 which surrounds the drum 3 to just below the flange 17, and the oil is removed through a drain 21. The base of the container 20 is secured to a hood 25 about the motor 2 to vibrate both the container and also the slideway 27 secured thereto. A feed funnel 32 projects through an upper cover 31 of the drier into the drum interior and vibrations from the slideway 27 and wall 26 are transmitted thereto. A grid 34 is mounted in the funnel to prevent large cuttings entering the drum. In a modification a feed worm 50 is mounted in the funnel. Vibrations may also be generated by a counterweight 41 secured to the drum 3. |
