A valve for controlling sodium coolant in a nuclear reactor is provided with a bellows 6 to protect spindle 3, and has an outlet 8 located near the lowest point in the valve to facilitate drainage. An electric element 15 heats the interior of the bellows. Closure 2 is provided with a castellated piston 9 to provide precise adjustment over a short stroke. Connectors 12, 13 permit protective scavangering of the valve interior by a flushing system. |
