In the catalytic reaction of an organic hydroperoxide (I) with a 3-20C ethylenically unsatd. hydrocarbon (II), which is free of acetylenic unsatn., so as to introduce an oxirane oxygen, nickel phthalocyanine (III) is employed as catalyst, the reaction being carried out in a solvent at 80-150 degrees C with a pressure high enough to keep the reaction medium in the liquid phase, and the concn. of (I) being >=10-6 M.
