The invention relates to a method which is liable to reduce the size of the pores, to repair defects and to improve, in general, the separation properties of the micro-porous and nano-porous membranes. Said chemical vapour penetration method may be applied under relatively low temperatures (200-300 deg. C) where the use of available sealing techniques is feasible. By this method, a defected low-selectivity micro-porous membrane can be controllably converted into a high-selectivity micro-porous and nano-porous membrane. Non-defected micro-porous and nano-porous membranes with pores of dimensions lower than 1nm can be applied to a series of gas separation processes such as H2 retrieval, to gaseous pollutants removal, to trans-evaporation andnano-filtering processes, as well as to membrane reactors for increasing the conversion degree with simultaneous separation of products derived from reactions characterised by restrictions in the thermodynamic balance. |
