Disclosed is an oxide luminophor which emits a high-level light in an ultraviolet region of 200-300 nm when excited by an electron ray or an ultraviolet ray. Specifically disclosed is a luminophor which is composed of an oxide of group 2A element of the periodic table containing another metal element or a semi-metal element, and has an emission peak in an ultraviolet region of 200-300 nm when excited by an electron ray or an ultraviolet ray. Preferably, the ratio of the another metal element or the semi-metal element relative to the group 2A element of the periodic table is 0.0001-1% by mole, the group 2A element of the periodic table is Mg, and the another metal element is Al.
