Grinding of a catalyst product containing titanium dioxide

Preparing an intermediate product or a catalyst raw material for catalyst preparation comprises calcination of starting raw material that contains at least 50 wt.%, preferably at least 65 wt.% of titanium dioxide (TiO 2) and has a Branuer Emmit Teller (BET) surface area of 20-400 m 2>/g, preferably 50-150 m 2>/g; and milling at least a portion of the intermediate product or catalyst raw material in roller mill, preferably pressure grinding roll after the calcination step. Independent claims are included for: (1) mill to produce a catalyst raw material, where the mill is pressure grinding roll and the mill leaving flakes are added to the shaping method without passing through a deagglomeration and/or a subsequent dispersion apparatus; and (2) titanium dioxide containing catalyst raw material for producing catalyst, where the catalyst raw material contains at least 50 wt.%, preferably at least 65 wt.% of titanium dioxide and has a BET surface area of 20-400 m 2>/g, preferably 50-150 m 2>/g, exhibits a sieve residue of greater than 70% with a mesh size of 300 mu m in dry sieving and a sieve residue of less than 5% with a mesh size of 300 mu m in wet sieving, and is present in the form of mil leaving flakes, as obtained from pressure grinding roll.
