PURPOSE: A compensating circuit of an image display device and a method thereof for recompensing the display defection of the fixed type defect region are provided to prevent the increase of the size of the compensation data without increasing the number of defect regions. CONSTITUTION: If an input data displayed in a fixed type defect region is inputted, a first compensation(130) confirms a defect level data of a corresponding fixed type defect region from a memory(120). A correction data set corresponding to the identified defect level data is selected. A first compensation selects compensation data corresponding to input data in the selected compensation data and compensates the input data. A second compensation(180) uses a dither pattern and compensates compensated input data.
