THE METHOD FOR PREPARING GYNOSTEMMA PENTAPHYLLUM EXTRACT WITH INCREASING DAMULIN A AND DAMULIN B CONTENTS, AND A PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS OF THE SAME FOR TREATING METABOLIC DISEASE

PURPOSE: A composition for relieving and treating metabolic disease, which contains damulin A and B compounds is provided to activate AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and suppress synthesis of lipid and cholesterol. CONSTITUTION: A Gynostemma pentaphyllum extract is prepared by treating concentrate of Gynostemma pentaphyllum leaves ethanol extract at 100~125°C, 1.2~690 pressure, for 0.5 to 24 hours or at 45-100°C, 690-1100 pressure, for 12 to 24 hours. Dried powder of concentrate of Gynostemma pentaphyllum extract contains 0.7-7%(w/w) of damuline A and 0.5-6%(w/w) of damulin B. A pharmaceutical composition for relieving and treating obesity, diabetes or hyperlipidemia contains the Gynostemma pentaphyllum extract.
