PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for forming colloidal photonic crystals on a flexible substrate are provided to rotate a cylinder that is surrounded by a flexible substrate in order to give shear stress to a colloid solution. CONSTITUTION: A method for forming colloidal photonic crystals on a flexible substrate comprises the following steps of: making a flexible substrate(110) surround the external surface of a cylinder(150); placing the cylinder at predetermined distance from a plate(210) coated with a colloid solution(250); and rotating the cylinder to form colloidal photonic crystals on the flexible substrate.
