<p>1,183,834. Coating. J. R. GEIGY A.G. 21 Aug., 1967 [22 Aug, 1966 (2)], No. 38480/67. Heading B2E. [Also in Divisions C2 and C3] Fabrics are coated with a polymer derived from a compound of the general formula where n is an integer from 1-18, A is -(CH 2 )m-, m being 04, R, and R 2 each are H or C 1-6 alkyl; or R 1 and R 2 taken together are -CH 2 CH 2 - when A is -CH 2 CH 2 -; and R 3 is H or methyl, to render them water and oil repellent (see Division C2 for preparation of monomers and Division C3 for polymers). In the Examples cotton and wool fabrics are treated with a solution of poly (N-perfluorooctanoyl-N<SP>1</SP>-methacryloylhydrazine) in benzotrifluoride/hexafluoroxylene/ethyl acetate. A similar procedure is adopted with a co-polymer of N-perfluorooctanoyl-N<SP>1</SP>-methacryloyl hydrazine and n-laurylmethacrylate.</p> |
