PURPOSE: A method for setting automatic white balance area is provided to prevent tracking error phenomena by setting the area in which edge is distributed in average as the automatic white balance area. CONSTITUTION: The imaging image is input from the image sensor(S101). The edge is detected from the input image and the edge part is removed(S103). The input image of which edge is removed is partitioned into the fixed block size(S105). The threshold for the brightness of the partitioned image is applied and the remaining area except for the most bright area and the most dark area is set as the AWB(Auto White Balance) area(S107).
