A transmission device (1) includes a portable member (10) that can be carried by a user, a transponder and a magnet (15). The magnet (15) is provided in the portable member. An authentication device includes a CPU, a Hall IC, a charge oscillation element and LF antennas. The authentication device is provided in a motorcycle. When a user moves the portable member close to the Hall IC (22) of the authentication device, a magnetic force generated by the magnet is detected by the Hall IC. Thus, the CPU causes power to be supplied to the charge oscillation element, so that radio waves are transmitted from the LF antennas. Upon receipt of the radio waves, the transponder transmits an ID code. When the ID code is received by the LF antennas, authentication operation is performed by the CPU based on the ID code. |
