<p>The method involves monitoring optical transmission sections between coupling points for a monitoring channel, which lies in fiber optic cables (9, 11, 14, 15) connected with a multiplex-port of demultiplex-units (7, 13). A monitoring signal is added to an optical wavelength multiplex signal. An average wavelength of the monitoring signal is selected such that the monitoring channel attached to a demultiplex-port is selected. The monitoring signal or a backscattering-signal is evaluated, where the backscattering-signal is produced by the monitoring signal in the fiber optic cables. The demultiplex-unit is designed as a cyclic wavelength selective optical filter. An independent claim is also included for a passive optical wavelength multiplex-transmission network comprising an optical-demultiplex unit.</p> |
