In a sound output device (201) for defining the difference between sounds from two sound producing units to enhance a feeling of reality, a storage unit (202) stores sound information and volume coefficients of two sound producing units moving in a virtual space, a distance calculating unit (203) calculates respective distances between a gazing point and the sound producing units, a change rate calculating unit (204) calculates change rates at which the volumes of sounds produced by the sound producing units change as they move away respective distances, an amplification factor calculating unit (205) calculates, for a sound producing unit having a larger volume coefficient, an amplification factor that is larger than its change rate and calculates, for a sound producing unit having a smaller volume coefficient, an amplification factor that is smaller than its change rate, and a mixing and outputting unit (206) amplifies sound information respectively associated with sound producing units by amplification factors respectively calculated for respective sound producing units and outputs the sound obtained by adding the amplified results. |
