A piston head for a gasoline direct injection engine is provided to make the thick stratification of a mixer around a spark plug and to improve combustion performance by improving the shape of a piston head and heightening the performance for guiding the movement of fuel to make the fuel injected directly to a combustion chamber to be gathered to the vicinity of a spark plug. A piston head for a gasoline direct injection engine comprises a projection structure(30) and a bowl. The projection structure is provided with a maximum projection(31) projected at the highest from the upper side(11a) of a piston head(11), wherein the maximum projection is formed on a point spaced out at a certain distance from the center(C1) of the piston head along a central line(L1) when a central line passing through the center of a piston head along the injection direction(A1) of an injector is fixed, and the projection structure is formed at the same height as the upper side of the piston head by decreasing the projection height gradually from the maximum projection toward the outer circumferential surface of the piston head along an extension line perpendicular to the central line to have the same height as the upper side of the piston head, and the bowl is formed in the projection structure located in a low pressure area(M2) where relatively low pressure is formed against the extension line according to the volume formed by the upper side of the piston head and a combustion chamber when a piston reaches TDC(top dead center).
