APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR RECEIVING SIGNAL IN A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

An apparatus and a method for receiving a signal are provided to improve a decoding convergence speed by using a variable node based serial scheduling method changing a decoding sequence when receiving the signal. A punched codeword including information bit nodes and parity bit nodes which are not punched is received(701). A kernel block which is not punched and the punched kernel block are grasped by analyzing the punched codeword vector and the 0 is inserted into the parity bit nodes corresponding to the punched kernel block(705). The decoding priority of the parity bit node is determined by reflecting the kernel block which is not punched to a predetermined decoding priority determining algorithm(707). The whole parity bit node is restored by serially decoding the parity bit nodes included in the kernel block which is not punched according to the decoding priority of the determined parity bit node.
