<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect an origin position of a handle in a fork lift. <P>SOLUTION: In a controller 8 inputted with pulse signals SS1, SS2 from a handle angle sensor 5 and a zero point signal, the time when the zero point signal is inputted (zero point signal is low) and one condition selected from pattern 1: the first pulse signal SS1 is low (L) and the second pulse signal SS2 is low (L), pattern 2: the first pulse signal SS1 is low (L) and the second pulse signal SS2 is high (H), pattern 3: the first pulse signal SS1 is high (H) and the second pulse signal SS2 is low (L) and pattern 4: the first pulse signal SS1 is high (H) and the second pulse signal SS2 is high (H) is effected is made to origin detection. Even if the origin detection condition is any one of the patterns 1-4, a range becoming the origin detection is limited to a range corresponding to 1/4 period of the pulse signal SS1 (or pulse signal SS2).
