PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder capable of reducing trouble caused by metallic piece such as staples and clips. SOLUTION: In the sheet feeder X1 in which a cassette 16 is inserted in a body frame 15a, a metal detection unit 17 is installed on the body frame 15a so that a sheet Sh in the cassette 16 passes through below a detection surface 17a of the metal detection unit 17 when the cassette 16 is inserted in the body frame 15a.
