PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a residence which pays attention to the relationship between a residential building and a dwelling unit and to activity flow lines of elderly persons, and allows the elderly persons to live comfortably and safely according to functional levels of daily life in a manner avoiding isolation irrespective of whether they are healthy and active or they need care, and to provide a collective residence. SOLUTION: The residence has: floor surfaces of first external corridors 2a to 2c which are connected to entrances of nursing rooms 1a to 1c arranged on a first story of a building 17, and continued to floor surfaces of the entrances without steps, respectively; and floor surfaces of second external corridors 2d to 2e which are connected to entrances to elevator rooms 3d, 3e arranged on the first story of the building 17, and continued to floor surfaces of the entrances without steps, respectively.
