<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent interference resulting from current leakage while improving power efficiency in a radio communication apparatus of time division duplex system by achieving high speed on/off switching control of a power amplifier by a simple method thereby limiting current leakage from the side of transmitting section to the side of receiving section effectively. <P>SOLUTION: In the radio communication apparatus 1 of time division duplex system, a means 13 for generating transmission signal generates a transmission signal. A means 16 for amplifying power amplifies a transmission signal thus generated. A means 19 for generating a control signal generates a signal for controlling the drain voltage of the means 16 for amplifying power, and a signal for controlling the gate voltage of the means 16 for amplifying power. According to a drain voltage control signal, a switch section 18 switches the drain power supply of the power amplification means 16 off at the time of reception.
