PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a cylindrical photoreceptor which prevents uneven characteristics from being caused in a cylindrical photoreceptor even when electromagnetic induction heating is continuously carried out. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the cylindrical photoreceptor includes at least an application step of applying a coating liquid for a photosensitive layer on a cylindrical base body and a heating and drying step of heating and drying the base body coated with the coating liquid by using an electromagnetic induction heating device. The method is characterized in that the end part of the cylindrical photoreceptor is supported by a chucking member comprising a nonmagnetic material having a thermal conductivity of not more than 0.3 kcal/m×h×°C, and a ratio (Sd/Sc) of the area Sd on a radial transverse section of the chucking member in contact with the cylindrical photoreceptor to the surface area Sc on a radial transverse section of the chucking member is less than 1.0.
