<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reinforced glass plate manufactured taking few man-hours by a simple process and suitable for a thin-walled glass substrate. <P>SOLUTION: Polarizing sheets 1, 1 formed of an elastic material are pulled by applying predetermined tension and attached to the respective outer surfaces on the opposite side to the liquid crystal holding side of a pair of glass substrates 21, 22 holding liquid crystal in a liquid crystal display cell 2 so that the direction of the applied tension corresponds to the longitudinal direction of the glass substrates 21, 22. Compressive stresses α1, α2 are generated to the respective glass substrates 21, 22, and the tensile stresses β1, β2 generated to the respective glass substrates 21, 22 when bending load F is applied are offset by these compressive stresses α1, α2 to prevent the glass substrates 21, 22 from being broken by the bending load F. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
