<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable capacitor extending its life as compared with a conventional one by reducing mechanical wear. <P>SOLUTION: The variable capacitor has: a vessel 1, where two electrodes 11, 12 for making connection to an external circuit are provided opposingly and a liquid flows between the electrodes; a tank 3 for storing the liquid; and a pump 2 allowing the fluid to travel between the vessel and the tank.
