Covering materials for walls or facades simulating an external wall surface comprises a sheet of glass fibres which is impregnated throughout with a weatherproof polymeric substance fully coating the fibres while leaving pores penetrable by air and moisture, and on one side carries discrete projecting areas of a powder composition e.g. granulated asbestos, fine sand, pigments, brick powder or mixtures thereof, bound together with a polymeric substance and separated from each other by interspaces, both polymeric substances e.g. neoprene, being supple when hardened. The interspaces between the projecting areas may be covered with a second powder composition of contrasting appearance to the powder composition of the projecting areas, the second powder composition also being bound by a polymeric substance which is supple when hardened. The material is adhered to a wall or facade by means of a set weatherproof binding agent e.g. a binding agent based on bitumen, a cold-hardening thermosetting resin, neoprene, common mortar or by nailing. |
