The retainer has an oblong strip (2) made of textile material, a carrier belt (3) and a detachable drinking vessel (4), where both ends of the carrier belt are fastened to a narrow side of the oblong strip. The strip is folded in u-shape, and two sides (21) of the strip overlie on sides of the drinking vessel to a large extent. The sides (21) are connected with each other at or in proximity of both longitudinal folds by a retaining strap (5). The retaining strap is detachably connected with one of the sides (21) using a connecting device.
