A sheet metal laser cutting head (10) has a housing (11) with laser beam (12) focusing lenses (15). The lens unit consists of first (25) stage with a first focal point and a second (26) stage (15) with a second focal point (17). Both focal points are located along the same focal axis. Each lens unit intercepts a different part of the laser beam. The first lens unit straddles the entire laser beam, while the second lens unit cuts across a limited part of the beam.
