A low fuel caution method operating with a navigation unit is provided to enable a driver to replenish fuel through a gas station by selecting a gas station which a vehicle is able to reach in the lack of fuel and guiding the gas station. The possible driving distance of a vehicle is periodically calculated according to the fuel amount of the vehicle in a trip computer and is transmitted to a navigation unit(S204). The distance of a gas station having minimum distance is calculated in a navigation unit and safety compensation factor(alpha) is multiplied with the distance and the multiplied value is compared with the possible driving distance of a vehicle(S208). Warning sentence and question about operation navigating a gas station are displayed on a display panel at the point of time when the multiplied value is lower than the possible driving distance(S212). In case the driver chooses yes, the navigation to gas station is performed on the display panel in the navigation unit(S218).
