A battery cooling device for a hybrid vehicle and the control method are provided to extend the service life of a battery blower by minimizing the operation time of a battery blower, to improve the fuel consumption of a vehicle, and to minimize the inflow of noise to the indoor. A battery cooling device for a hybrid vehicle comprises an outer duct(120) connected to one side of a housing to make the outside air flow in a housing(110) attached with a battery(100) via a vehicle blower, an indoor duct(130) connected to one side of the outer duct to make the indoor air flow in the housing, an inflow opening and closing pipe(140) installed between the outer duct and the indoor duct to make the outside air or the indoor air flow in the housing selectively, and an outlet duct(150) connected to the other side of the housing to discharge the air flew in the housing and attached with a battery blower in an inner passage.
