A braking device 10 installed on a grinding machine having a spindle 11 comprises an electromagnet 20 fixed onto the grinding machine, an inner braking disc 30 fixed to the electromagnet 20, a lining plate 40 which rotates synchronously with the spindle 11, an outer braking disc 50 and a plurality of elastic elements arranged between the inner and outer braking discs 30 and 50. The lining plate 40 is located between the braking discs 30 and 50. Actuation of the electromagnet 20 overcomes the force of the elastic elements 60 and the outer braking disc 50 axially slides towards the electromagnet 20, thereby cooperating with the inner brake disc 30 to clamp both sides of the lining plate 40. |
