An EHPS(electrically hydraulic powered steering) optimum control apparatus is provided to control the discharge pressure of a power steering pump according to the change of front-wheel steering column by using a wheel stroke sensor, thereby improving the energy efficiency of a vehicle. An EHPS(electrically hydraulic powered steering) optimum control apparatus comprises: a steering wheel sensor(20) to measure steering angle information; a wheel stroke sensor(30) mounted in a front wheel to measure the amount of stoke; a speed sensor(40); an EAL map(50) to compare reference values to the steering angle information and stroke information delivered through the steering wheel sensor and the wheel stroke sensor; an ESP electronic control unit(60) to receive the information delivered through the speed sensor and the EAL map; and a power pump(70) to discharge oil with a predetermined pressure according to the signal of the ESP electronic control unit.
