A communications system for a position detector comprises a position detector (11) for detecting the amount of movement of a table (21), an A/D converter (13) connected to the position detector (11), a numerical control device (15) connected to the A/D converter (13) and receiving a position signal converted by the A/D converter (13), and an information processor (16) connected to the A/D converter (13) via a USB (17) capable of bidirectional communication. The information processor (16) includes a storage section for preserving data and a program, a computing section for computationally operating the program, and a display section for indicating the results of computational operation by the computing section, and the data.
