<p>The method for the post-treatment of sewage sludge (2) from the waste-water clarification, comprises after-burning the sewage sludge in a rotary kiln (3) under supply of flue gas (4) resulting from a refuse incineration plant, and feeding water vapor (6) into the rotary kiln, so that the remaining oxygen in the flue gas burns with remaining carbon in the sewage sludge using the water vapor, which is introduced by nozzles in the lateral surface of lances (5), which protrude in the rotary kiln and are cooled via partial circulation of the water vapor into its interior.
