A key backlight controller (100) comprises a key input section (120) for inputting data by key depression, a key backlight section (140) for illuminating the key input section (120), a time measurement section (130) for clocking a certain period of time from the key depression, and a key backlight operation control unit (110) for performing a key backlight control to turn off the backlight section (140) for a certain period of time during which the time measurement section (130) measures when the key depression by the key input section (120) is detected while the backlight operates.
