The present invention pertains to the field of insertion of polymeric chains with functional groups over surfaces having hydroxyl or carbonyl or primary or secondary amine groups. The current methods for performing said insertion require several chemical steps to be carried out, which result impractical. The present invention was therefore created wherein only two steps for growing polymeric chains from a surface are required. In the first step the surface is brought into contact with a solution including an oxoaminium salt and a tertiary amine in an organic solvent. In the second step the product resulting from the previous step is heated in the presence of one or several vinyl monomers, which may contain functional groups, for several hours and optionally in the presence of a free radical of the nitroxide type and a solvent.
