The invention relates to a method for raising plants rooted in a ball of cultivating material. A tubular body is placed round the plant, the surface facing the plant of which tubular body is provided with guide surfaces, which guide surfaces extend at least substantially in vertical direction in the position of use of the tubular body. Seen in cross-sectional view of the tubular body, said guide surfaces include an angle with a line that envelopes the outer side of the tubular body. The tubular body is preferably placed over a pot containing said ball of cultivating material.
