PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition for a substrate for a hard disk, which composition is suitably used for a washed substrate obtained by polishing and then washing a polished substrate with a polishing liquid composition containing silica micro-particles and expresses excellent detergency, and to provide a production method of a substrate for an HD prepared by using the composition. SOLUTION: The detergent composition for a substrate for an HD contains a nonionic surfactant represented by formula (1): R<SP>1</SP>-O-(EO)<SB>m</SB>(PO)<SB>n</SB>-H, a water-soluble amine compound, and water. In formula (1), R<SP>1</SP>is an 8-18C alkyl group, an 8-18C alkenyl group, an 8-18C acyl group, or a 14-18C alkyl-phenyl group; EO is an oxyethylene group; PO is an oxypropylene group; m and n are each an average addition molar number of EO and PO, respectively, and m is a number of 1-20 and n is a number of 0-20; and the arrangement of EO and PO may be block or random.
