It is an object to propose a registration device and a registration method that are configured to enable the reduction of a memory occupancy amount at a memory for storing living body information and an authentication device and an authentication method that are configured to enable the shortening of an authentication time. A registration device is provided with a vein excluded information acquiring unit (22) that acquires vein excluded information which is information except vein portion information from vein image data; a vein excluded information registration unit (23) that registers the vein excluded information acquired by the vein excluded information acquiring unit (22) at an HDD (14); a patterning unit (31) that is included in a security chip (15) with a degree of security that is higher than those of the vein excluded information acquiring unit (22), the vein excluded information registration unit (23) and the HDD (14) and extracts information with respect to the vein from the vein image data; and a vein information registration unit (32) that registers at a memory (33) the information with respect to the vein extracted by the patterning unit (31).
