<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition that is highly safe and exhibits a biological clock-normalizing effect and a sleep-improving effect by a simple method. <P>SOLUTION: The composition exhibiting a biological clock-normalizing effect or a sleep-improving effect comprises cryptoxanthin and/or an ester thereof. Preferably, cryptoxanthin and/or an ester thereof is one derived from at least one selected from the group consisting of Citrus unshiu, a processed product of Citrus unshiu, an enzyme-treated product of Citrus unshiu and a solvent-extract of Citrus unshiu. The composition is used as a preventive and therapeutic agent for diseases caused by disorder of a biological clock such as time zone change syndrome (so-called jet-lag syndrome), shift work sleep disorder, delayed sleep phase syndrome (DSPS), non-24-hour sleep wake syndrome, advanced sleep phase syndrome (ASPS) or the like. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
