<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide rare earth-iron-manganese-nitrogen magnetic powder which has a novel structure wherein amorphous phases having long and short wire shapes with a high concentration in Mn and N exit regularly inside a main phase and then has excellent coercivity and an excellent square shape in a well-balanced state and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The rare earth-iron-manganese-nitrogen magnetic powder is substantially constituted of rare earth elements, Fe, Mn, and N, where an N content is not less than 3.5 wt.% based on the whole, an average particle diameter is not less than 10 μm, and the coercivity is not less than 400 kA/m. The powder includes: the main phase composed of the phases with the crystal structure of rhombohedral crystal or hexagonal crystal with the rare earth elements, Fe, Mn, and N as components; and the amorphous phases grown in the main phase almost in parallel to a (c) axis, more heavily doped in Mn and N than that of the main phase, which have the diameter of not more than 20 nm, and have the long and short wire shapes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
