<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform effective light emission to reduce red-eye without increasing a time lag in photographing operation when performing flash photography by a digital camera. <P>SOLUTION: Image data expressing a subject is acquired at a plurality of points of time (S101 and S102), and necessary light quantity of normal light emission is estimated by performing prescribed arithmetic operation (S103). Light emitting time or the number of light emitting times of the light emission to reduce the red-eye phenomenon is determined on the basis of the estimated necessary light quantity, and additional light emission to reduce the red-eye is performed (S104).
