PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document management system allowing a user to easily read document information stored in a device outside of a portable terminal by the concerned portable terminal; a document management server and a document management method.

SOLUTION: This document management system includes: a storage means storing document information of two or more different data formats for representing predetermined contents displayed by the portable terminal device; a document information transmitting means for transmitting document information of predetermined data format to the portable terminal device; a receiving means for receiving data format specified by the user in the portable terminal device; and a specified data format document information transmitting means for transmitting the document information of the data format received by the receiving means to the portable terminal device.
