PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device which collectively reads a plurality of sets of original while distinguishing them from each other. SOLUTION: The image reading device 1 is provided which includes: an automatic original feeder unit 4 to automatically feed original sheets; and an image reading means 15 to read an image formed on each of the original sheets being fed by the automatic original feeder unit 4, the image reading device 1 further includes an image data generation means 16 that finishes a job each time a criterial feature to distinguish the sets of original from each other is detected, for image data which has been read by the image reading means 15 from overlapped sets of original successively fed from the automatic original feeder unit 4 and that stores image data into a file different for each original.
