PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical comparator 402 used, when a test is to be executed with a high-speed signal light 11. SOLUTION: The optical comparator 402 is used for a tester 100 provided with an optical driver section 200, including an optical multiplexer for generating a composite optical test signal generated by a plurality of optical drivers 202, and transmitting the composite optical test signal to a to-be-tested device 120 so as to process it. The optical comparator 402 includes a pulse light source 174 for generating a pulse optical signal, in synchronization with a timing signal; an optical demultiplexer 410 operated in synchronization with the pulse optical signal, and branching the received composite optical test signal into a plurality of individual optical signals; a plurality of photoelectric conversion sections 420 for converting a plurality of the individual optical signals outputted from the optical demultiplexer 410 into electrical signals; and a data comparison section 440 for comparing the outputs from the photoelectric conversion sections 420 with a test signal generated by a program generator 210, and evaluating the operation of the to-be-tested device 120.
